Loveart& was invited to do a terrarium workshop (using recycled plastic water bottles) with Mrs. Boyer's 4th Grade class at Fremont Elementary in Santa Ana! We helped to reinforce their recent lessons on the regions of California and parts of a plant. We also front loaded their upcoming lesson by introducing them to the concept of Ecosystems. Good Times !
We reviewed the 4 regions of California (desert, mountian, valley, coast) and the parts of a plant (roots, leaves, stem) before we began the terrarium workshop. Our terrariums used recycled plastic water bottles, donated river rocks, found sea shells, sand, dirt, and various succulents. We had the pleasure of introdcuing the class to the concept of ecosystems – as they were creating thier own inside the terrarium – and finished up with a writing excersise as they created their own care instructions. This will be the first in a series of concept related workshops that we will do with Mrs. Boyer's class.
