current program: the Loveart& Van

A mobile arts, education, and recreation vehicle which was donated to Loveart& by local supporter, Vincent Harris. The vehicle will be renovated using sustainable bamboo interior donated by our corporate sponsor Calibamboo . The goal of the program is to help supplement school and community youth programming that has suffered funding cutbacks in recent years. Specifically, this program will focus on under-performing schools, diverse socioeconomic groups, and low-income communities where children and youth often do not have access to creative or inspiring programming in their classrooms or after-school/community programs due to city and state-wide budget cuts.

Rather than bringing kids to a centralized Loveart& location to participate in creative workshops, which requires funding and staff time on the part of schools and other community organizations, we will bring the programming to them.

We believe that mobility will allow us to reach more kids by expanding our range and locations of projects which will include: arts workshops, recreational activities (skate boarding, soccer, basketball), and environmental and ecology based programming (community greening, installation of living walls, terrariums, introduction to public parks).

This new program will also increase our flexibility by allowing us to function administratively on-the-go as the vehicle will be equipped to function as a portable office.

It is our hope that we will forge lasting relationships within the community and that the schools and organizations will invite us back to work on new projects in the future. The anticipated outcome of this program is to increase children and youth exposure to creative, ecological, and recreational outlets and that this exposure will help spark an interest in their education, to broaden their perspective on the world and the career possibilities available to them as they grow.

loveart& is currently seeking both in-kind & monetary donations for renovating and operating the vehicle.

• exterior paint
• solar panels and/or solar oven/stove
• gas card
• video projector & screen

Monetary Donations will go toward:
• staffing
• insurance
• vehicle maintenance
• project development
